Shamin Hotels Announces Move to Springline with Larger Hilton Project
Expanded development to feature 260-room Hilton and 20,000-square-foot conference center, elevating Chesterfield’s tourism and business appeal
Shamin Hotels, Inc. has announced plans to relocate its proposed hotel and conference center from Stonebridge to Springline, a mixed-use development project in Chesterfield. This strategic move involves an expansion of the project, now featuring a 12-story Hilton hotel.
The new Hilton hotel and conference center represents a significant investment of at least $75 million. It is expected to house approximately 260 rooms and offer 20,000 feet of conference space. The hotel, still in its design phase, is set to include attractive features, such as a second-floor outdoor terrace for events and a rooftop bar, enhancing the guest experience.
“Partnering with Shamin Hotels on this exciting new venture in Chesterfield aligns with Hilton Hotels & Resorts commitment to develop destinations that make it “The Place” for significant trips, occasions, meetings, and events,” said Leonard Gooz, global brand leader of Hilton Hotels & Resorts. “We are particularly excited about the potential this development holds, providing dynamic spaces, elevated culinary experiences, all powered by Hilton’s welcoming hospitality, positioning Chesterfield to be a terrific destination for both leisure and business travelers.”
The decision to relocate the project from Stonebridge to Springline was a mutual agreement between Shamin Hotels and the Chesterfield Economic Development Authority, recognizing the synergistic benefits of situating the hotel within Springline’s mixed-use development featuring residential, retail, office and entertainment spaces.
“The Hilton brand speaks to our vision of making this a destination for the highest quality events and functions,” said Neil Amin, chief executive officer of Shamin Hotels, Inc. “This transformative project will be the largest conference center in Chesterfield.”
Shamin Hotels impressive portfolio includes 75 hotels across five states, with a substantial investment of more than $1 billion in Virginia since 1979. Shamin is the largest hotel owner in the Commonwealth and one of the top 10 largest in the United States.
“With the growing tourism and sports entertainment activities in the county, we need added hotel and conference spaces to meet this demand,” said Mark S. Miller, Ph.D., representative of the Midlothian District on the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors. “Springline is becoming one of the most exciting projects in the region, so adding the quality of the Hilton brand to this area makes it the perfect location.”
“The board of supervisors is delighted to have approved the new Hilton hotel and conference center moving from Stonebridge to Springline,” said Board Chairman Kevin Carroll. “The quality associated with the Hilton brand and Shamin Hotels gives us tremendous confidence that the new facility will become a regional destination for events and conferences.”
The hotel’s proximity to several popular sports venues is expected to bolster Chesterfield’s growing sports tourism market. Local county leaders are optimistic the hotel with serve as a hub for local activities, further elevating its status as an ideal venue for meetings and conventions.
“The prospective full-service hotel and conference center will not only diversify Chesterfield’s tourism portfolio by attracting business meetings and conventions to a key gateway area, it will create a hub for local events that enhances the quality of life for our residents,” said J.C. Poma, executive director of the county’s Sports, Visitation and Entertainment Department. “It also significantly increases our hotel room offerings near attractions such as SwimRVA, River City Sportsplex, Rockwood Park and Daniel Park, making these venues more attractive as host sites for sports tourism events and significantly impacting the local economy by keeping more overnight visitors in the county.”
The Springline at District 60 mixed-use development is located near the intersection of Midlothian Turnpike and Chippenham Parkway.
