Shamin Hotels Breaks Ground on Hilton Richmond The Mondelle at Springline at District 60

A new destination for iconic celebrations and energizing connections, the 270-room full-service hotel to feature 30,000+ square feet of meeting space and 12,600-square-foot ballroom

Shamin Hotels, Virginia’s largest hotel owner and operator, broke ground today on Hilton Richmond The Mondelle – an 11-story, 270-room $160 million full-service hotel and conference center at Springline at District 60 in Chesterfield County. The hotel represents the first full-service conference hotel constructed in the Greater Richmond area since Shamin developed Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa/Short Pump in 2009 and it will anchor the $1 billion, 42-acre mixed-use development at the intersection of Midlothian Turnpike and Chippenham Parkway.

Hilton Richmond The Mondelle

As part of Hilton Hotels & Resorts’ commitment to delivering elevated experiences for every traveler, The Mondelle will embody the brand’s refreshed identity—a modernized expression of Hilton—connecting guests to the destination through thoughtful design, vibrant social spaces, and purpose-driven amenities.

“Building on a tremendous 35-year partnership with Hilton, The Mondelle stands as our commitment to fulfilling Chesterfield County’s increasing need for world-class meeting and event space. We’ve woven 16 years of operational excellence from our Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa/Short Pump, coupled with bespoke amenities, into the very fabric of The Mondelle’s curated design and programming,” remarked Neil Amin, Chief Executive Officer of Shamin Hotels. “Our 42 years of continued investment in Chesterfield County have clearly shown that its leadership fosters a thriving pro-business climate and high quality of life, successfully attracting residents, workers, and visitors. With billions of dollars of investments pouring into the area from major corporations, the imperative for premier conference and lodging facilities has never been greater.”

“We are proud to continue our strong partnership with Shamin Hotels and build on our shared commitment to delivering world-class hospitality,” said Christian Charnaux, Chief Development Officer, Hilton. “For more than a century, Hilton Hotels & Resorts has been the world’s most recognized and trusted hospitality brand, creating value for owners, guests and communities in every corner of the globe. Together with the team at Shamin Hotels, we look forward to introducing our flagship brand and delivering unforgettable stays in this fast-growing business hub in Virginia’s Chesterfield County.”

“With the groundbreaking for Hilton Richmond The Mondelle, we’re setting the stage for a new era of hospitality in Chesterfield County. This hotel will become a destination for iconic gatherings—featuring one of Central Virginia’s largest ballrooms designed for celebrations both epic and intimate,” said Leonard Gooz, global brand leader, Hilton Hotels & Resorts. “Every detail, from vibrant communal areas to purpose-driven amenities, will be crafted to spark energizing connections and put guests at the center of it all. That includes a diverse collection of food and beverage outlets showcasing cuisines from around the world—Asian flavors to European delights—each infused with local flair. By blending Richmond’s culture with Hilton’s global excellence, Hilton Richmond The Mondelle will deliver experiences that are authentically Virginian yet unmistakably world-class”.

With a landmark location in Chesterfield, the state’s fastest-growing county, Hilton Richmond The Mondelle will celebrate Richmond’s dynamic culture through multiple locally inspired design elements and culinary experiences, connecting travelers to the heart of the destination. The property will feature over 30,000 square feet of premium meeting space, including a 12,600-square-foot grand ballroom designed to host iconic celebrations and foster energizing connections for gatherings of every size. The hotel will
also include a signature restaurant with outdoor dining along Celebration Park, a second-floor indoor/outdoor executive meeting center with biergarten, and a rooftop restaurant and cocktail bar coupled with an infinity pool providing views of downtown Richmond, offering guests a setting for inspired experiences.

“Combining the county’s vision with the expertise and investment of our private sector partners, we’re bringing forward a project that will benefit our community for years to come. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to provide enhanced amenities to visitors and new opportunities for our residents and businesses,” said Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors Chair, Bermuda District Jim Ingle.

Dr. Mark Miller, Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors Vice-Chair for the Midlothian District, said: “The Hilton at Springline – District 60 expands the county’s capacity to host gatherings that highlight our community’s strengths, support local businesses, and create memorable experiences for visitors and residents alike. This is a powerful example of what we can achieve when public and private sectors work together.”

The Mondelle will benefit from Springline at District 60’s planned, unique “Campus” ABC license, which enables alcohol to be purchased and consumed anywhere within the 42-acre development, creating seamless integration between the hotel’s food and beverage outlets and the 42-acre master planned development with Celebration Park at its core.

Truist Bank provided the construction and bond financing for this project. “This transaction reflects Truist’s ability to deliver a coordinated capital solution for our client by bringing together construction financing and a tax-exempt bond execution – a true testament to the strength of our platform,” said Rebecca M. Cox, Senior Vice President & Market Manager at Truist National Real Estate. “We’re proud to support Shamin Hotels on this transformative project in Richmond.”
